SÁZAVAFEST 2012
The 12th anniversary of the summer festival Sázavafest at Benešov u Prahy provides its fans with the multicultural experience with many local and foreign artists and performers. Organizers of the festival inform about the pre-sale price of the ticket for the 3 days of the festival (Aug 2 – Aug 5, 2012) being available for 900 CZK. The fans of this annual summer festival can expect the performances the local artists, such as Mig 21, Xindl X, Monkey Business, or Sto zvířat.

Sto zvířat, the regular performer of Sazavafest festival, announced their intention to create a record on this festival by playing 100 songs during the 3 days event. “The whole marathon will be divided into 3 genre sets – Oldies, Janies, and Čerstvees,” said Jan Kalina, the frontman of Sto zvířat. The 12th anniversary of Sázavafest will let its visitors enjoy the mega show celebrating the 50th birthday with Michal Viewegh, as well as will Mňága a žďorp band celebrate its 25th anniversary in summer Benešov with their fans.

Finally, as a brand new project for the Sázavafest 2012 at Zelený ostrov in Benešov u Prahy, the organizers announced the new dance hall DANCE MANIA for 5 000 people that will be entertaining the visitors of Sázavafest with the sounds of both local and international DJs.

Sázavafest organizers also uncovered the first international artists that will perform on this year´s festival. DJ Sak Noel, Skindred, Molotov, or Katarína Knechtová are the first confirmed foreign stars that will play their music to their fans in Sázavafest.

DJ Sak Noel, the Spanish DJ, well-known mainly for his summer megahit “Loca People”, will bring the rhythms of dance music to Benešov and to DANCE MANIA hall. “Loca People” was a very successful song last summer when it was placed at the top positions in the world music charts. Its popularity is also proved by more than 50 million views on YouTube.

The unique music style that combines punk, rock, metal, reggae and electronic music, will be introduced by the artists from Wales – Skindred. The band was established around the frontman Benji Webbe sometime around the turn of the millennium. Their first album brought to the lights of the world hits like “Nobody”, “Pressure”, or “Selector”. Skindred are trying to hold to the live demand and they are producing new albums since then. Their latest album from 2011, “Union Black”, was produced in their “homeland” – United Kingdom, which made it very different from other albums in many aspects. “Being in the UK has brought out some of the heaviest moments in us all lyrically and musically since we started,” said Benji Webbe. The album is pointing out the diversity of the commonwealth, which was one of the reasons for the “Union Black” name. “We´re all from different places and backgrounds within the commonwealth, but – like with paint – when you mix all the colors together you get black,” explains Webbe.

Among other international artists that will come and perform for the fans of 12th Sázavafest, the fans of Sázavafest can look forward to hearing the music of the Mexican rock latino band Molotov and Slovak pop-rock singer Katarína Knechtová. The admirers of Spanish music will appreciate Molotov especially due to their prevailingly Spanish lyrics that are often reflecting on the politics, such as the immigration politics in the United States. Molotov went on a tour around Europe and America last year and they have been awarded with multiple music awards during their career. Knechtová became popular among the Czechs thanks to her connection to PEHA band and their song “Spomal” that was very successful in both Czech and Slovak music charts. Katka became familiar to the culture-loving fans also by her song “Muoj Bože” that was created for the Bathory movie. Katka is recently preparing a new solo album in cooperation with popular music producer, song author, drummer and cooperator of British band Depeche Mode, Christiane Eigner. This project is supposed to have the rock context altered by the electronic sound with Eigner´s typical signature included in it, which would make the project different from Katka´s previous artistic projects.
