13th July will become a holiday for all worshippers of the band The Doors and music of the 1960s. In the Prague Congress Centre two of its original founders will be playing – the keyboard player Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger with his accompanying band, whose members are still the singer Brett Scallions (ex-Fuel), bass guitarist Phil Chen and drummer Ty Dennis. The viewers can look forward to all famous hits of The Doors, a band which co-created the soul of hippies and became part of the contemporary history. In the year 1993 it was for example introduced to the rock´n´roll hall of fame, in the year 2007 it was awarded a Grammy for a whole-life contribution and a star in the Hollywood sidewalk of fame, and the songs “Light My Fire” or “Riders on the Storm” are still placed in the charts of the best compositions in the rock history and so on. Come to experience immortal music in the presentment of their original creators! Tickets are available in the network Ticketpro at prices from 790 to 2,190 CZK, including the fee. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and is organised by the agency Charm Music.
The band The Doors was established in Los Angeles in the year 1965 by the keyboard player Ray Manzarek (born in 1939) and singer Jim Morrison together with the drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger (born in 1946). Two years later they released at the label Elektra Records the first album “The Doors” with the song “Light My Fire”. The album immediately became a hit and icon of the psychedelic era, as well as their following records (although with varied success). The biggest attention was attracted to the charismatic singer Jim Morrison, whether by his characteristic voice or excesses related to alcoholism, drugs or public sedition. Morrison dies in the year 1971 under not quite clear circumstances, probably of a drug overdose. However, many fans believe that, similarly to Presley, Morrison is still alive. Nevertheless, the legend of The Doors survived and was growing even after the death of one of its founders. Numerous autobiographies were published both of The Doors and Morrison, in the year 1991 the film director Oliver Stone shot a movie called “The Doors” with Val Kilmer in the role of Morrison. After Morrison's death The Doors continued performing for some time, released several albums, but in the year 1973 they definitively split up. In the year 2002 Manzarek and Krieger got together again under the name The Doors of the 21st Century, however, at that time without the original drummer John Densmore, who together with Jim Morrison's family sued them for using the name “The Doors”. For this reason the band changed its name to The Riders on the Storm and in the year 2008 to Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors.
