From 6th March the town of Písek will see the first exhibition of astrology in the Czech Republic.
Astrology as a speech of symbols which could help people interested in it learn about themselves and the surrounding word will be introduced to visitors of the “First Exhibition of Astrology” with the subtitle of “Story of people meeting nature and the universe”. It will be installed in the Sladovna Písek Gallery in the “Vysoké trámy” hall from 6th March till 11th April. The exhibition is supposed to be a travelling one, the authors plan its transfers to other towns.
It will be the very first exhibition introducing development of astrology in Bohemia and Moravia from the most ancient times. It will show how famous scholars and scientists such as Johannes Kepler learned about skies and cycles of heavenly bodies. It will show how the stars spoke to monarchs like Charles IV or Rudolf II. Exhibition panels will explain how the star system is reflected in the Prague Astronomic Clock and the horoscope of the famous chieftain Albrecht from Valdštejn will not be omitted either.
The visitors will meet with astrology and its demonstrations in three stories. The first one will take them through astrology in the form of cartoons and collages accompanied by the elements of astrology. It will proximate the meanings of zodiac, astrological houses, planets, aspects and other terms of the astrology symbolic language.
The second story will unfold the picture of astrology in Czech history. The astrologist Martina Lukášková is the author of the exhibition and the collages, pen-drawings were made by Klára Sekyrová and photographs taken by Ondřej Koubek. The project was made up by Miroslav Švejda.
The third story is being told by the astrologists and their works. Soňa Erbanová exhibits her artefacts from glass and Alexandra Lechovská her textile works. The exhibited pictures were painted by Natálie Hejlová, Ondřej Klouček and Pavel Turnovský, collages and pen-drawings were made by Ondřej Ivanek. Ladislav Puršl and Jan Vratislav Žižka contributed with their graphic art, Martin Lukeš with his wooden objects. The exhibition is completed by photographs of Jan Kazda, Vladimír Pospíšil and Martin Stejskal.
