An exciting experience is awaiting nineteen-year-old little Alice, by full name Alice Kingsley, which she will not forget for a long time. When Hamish, a rich but half-witted son of Lord and Lady Ascot, proposes to her at a Victorian garden party organised in her honour, she cuts and runs away. She follows a rabbit wearing a coat and carrying a watch whom she saw pushing on a meadow.
The white rabbit (narrated by Michael Sheen) soon vanishes into a rabbit hole. Little Alice suddenly feels a strange urge to follow it, she falls into the hole and after the fall, which seems like a crazy dream, she finds herself in a circular room with a big number of doors. After that she tries a bottle labelled “Drink me”, whose content causes her to shrink, and a cake with the words “Eat me” on it, which makes her bigger again, she finally succeeds in passing through one of the doors and finds herself in an amazing and fascinating world.
Here she meets a wide range of extraordinary characters, from the boastful Dormouse to the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), from the grinning Cheshire Cat (narrated by Stephen Fry) to the Caterpillar smoking a water pipe (and speaking in the voice of Alan Rickman), from the strange White Queen (Anne Hathaway) to her elder sister the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).
