The exposition will present to its visitors a comprehensive picture of mint coinage at the origins of the Czech State. Without question the biggest attraction of the exhibit is the so-called “Silver Treasure of Poděbrady” - the biggest treasure of the oldest monetary unit of the so-called dinars (in Czech language “denár”) of the great coinage metal from the 10th century (1,400 coins).
The exposition will also reveal the mystery of other uncovered treasures from Hradec Králové, Stará Boleslav, Ostroměř and Čistěves. Moravia will be represented in the exhibition by a totally exceptional treasure from Kelč. It is a part of the discovery of the so-called chipped silver, which besides the whole coins contained over 165g fragments of coins and jewels and which by its content belongs to the treasures known from the Baltic area in the so-called Viking era.
The exposition contains more than 2,000 coins (over 2.5 kg of silver in total), including also the oldest type of Czech coin mintage – a dinar (in Czech language “denár”) of Boleslav I. from the 60s of the 10th century.
