An exposition of works by the German photographer Herbert Tobias (1924-1982).
Photographer Herbert Tobias (1924-1982). At the end of the 1950s Herbert Tobias was a rebel and star of the German photographic scene. Nowadays only a few contemporary witnesses will remember his name. However, his paintings are well-known: Andreas Baader with a naked upper body part, young Klaus Kinski, actress Hildegard Knef, Nico, playing children and erotic fashionable photographs. These shots have entered deeply into the visual memory and Herbert Tobias has, thanks to them, become a true legend in the professional and expert circles. The retrospective of Herbert Tobias's photographs is with approximately 150 exhibits the so-far most extensive presentation of the miscellaneous life work of this renowned German photographer, who died in the year 1982 at the age of only 57 years.
